2K Games has appointed a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to lead the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently developing the anticipated over-the-shoulder roguelike extraction-shooter known as Project Ethos.

Leadership Transition Comes After Poor Response

Brinkman steps into the role of studio head at 31st Union following the departure of former leader Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to the game's disappointing early showing last fall.

The president noted that the team is now reimagining Project Ethos with a renewed approach, aiming to address community desires.

This announcement echoes a comparable action taken by 2K Games in the summer, when they hired an industry veteran from the Diablo team to contribute to the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.

The community feedback from last autumn’s the game playtest was informative. It confirmed the appeal of a action-packed game but told us we still had refinements needed. It revealed the necessity for a clearer vision.

It’s been inspiring to see how far you’ve advanced. You embraced the criticism to heart and overhauled the title with a refreshed direction - one that’s ready to achieve its ambition to our fans.

Our confidence in Project ETHOS grows every day. To advance the outstanding progress you’ve made, It is a pleasure to announce the new hire as the incoming Studio Head of the team. After several months of talks, he officially joins us on Monday, October 20.

His leadership and expertise in the competitive gaming field is considerable, having spent the past decade and a half producing and managing some of the most popular titles in the industry, including Call of Duty: Black Ops, and most recently, the battle royale hit.
